The new year is officially here and it’s time get those marketing campaigns ramped up with social media trends for 2013.
If you’re business still isn’t using social media, you might want to think again because social media is here to stay. Recently, Hootsuite CEO, Ryan Holmes complied a list of projected trends in social media for 2013. In his article, “The Can’t Miss Social Media Trends for 2013,” Holmes forecasts that social media is going to continue to grow in overall size, users, and advertising. Facebook is anticipating a rise in mobile users, “We anticipate that the rate of growth in mobile usage will exceed the growth in usage through personal computers for the foreseeable future.” With the expected growth in mobile users, advertising must evolve in order to reach PC users they lost to smartphones. Holmes believes that companies will decrease the number of banner ads and opt for promoted tweets and posts.
In 2013, more companies will be utilizing social media for more than just marketing. Not only will employees receive more training, but HR departments will continue to implement social media into their job application process. With the increased functionality of social media, it’s best to be aware of what you upload to your profile. In other words, avoid posting anything that you wouldn’t want your grandma to see.
