Admit it. Sometimes when you tweet, you’re wondering to yourself: “Does anybody notice? Or care? Am I just wasting my time? How the heck would I know? Hmmm… I wonder who Paris Hilton is BFFs with on Twitter today.” Well, Twitter tabs are here to help.
Twitter is rolling out two new features promising to calm your restless minds and make it easier to tweet vicariously through those you follow or be a fly on the wall to see how your followers respond to your tweets with Twitter tabs.
@[your username]
A few beta users are the first to see the Retweets tab merged with @Mentions in a new creation, the @[your username] tab – showing your tweets that have been favorite or retweeted, new followers you’ve plucked from the stream, new lists you’ve been added to and @replies. If all goes well, you’ll soon have access to this instant snapshot page that’s all about YOU and what people think about you! How many people did you inspire to action? What did they add?
@Activity
The @Activity tab gives you a similar snapshot page of people you follow and what they’re doing when they think no one is looking. Want to know who your favorite Tweeters are following, what they retweet, what they add to their favorites list? @Activity is the tab for you.
The changes are similar to Facebook feeds which also feature a lot of info outside of updates from friends. Just another example of Facebook/Twitter hybrid features that make networking more user friendly and seamless. Get the scoop from Jolie O’Dell of DevBeat including great preview screenshots of how these new features will display all those thoughts swirling around in your head in just two neat, organized tabs.
